Westwood A. Todd Reminiscences of the Civil War, . 1882

Westwood Todd was a native of Smithfield, Va. and lived in Norfolk, Va., before and after the Civil War. The collection is a typescript copy (original privately owned as of 1936) of typescript reminiscences written in 1882 by Todd and include the narrative of his experiences in the Virginia theatre of the Civil War, some accounts of Mahone's brigade and the battles in which they participated, and incidents involving friends from Norfolk and Petersburg, Va. Todd served as a private in the 12th Virginia Infantry from his enlistment in 1861. In late July 1863 he was detailed to assist Lieutenant Dick Walke, Mahone's ordnance officer, and in early 1864 became himself an ordnance officer, serving until his capture at Sailor's Creek, 6 April 1865.
